Chris Jones has served as a close advisor to the PDC since 2009 and is also a volunteer medical device advisor in the UCSF Catalyst network. As Product Development Lead, Mr. Jones supports both our internal team and PDC-supported innovators in carrying out the technical and product development of their devices.

Mr. Jones has over 25 years of proven technical leadership, product vision, executive and project management, and engineering skills in the product development of therapeutic medical devices. He is experienced in early product concept evolution, prototyping, patent prosecution, preclinical testing, verification and validation activities, clinical evaluation, regulatory strategy, manufacturing transfer, and product launch. Mr. Jones has worked with clients in a wide range of clinical areas: cardiovascular, surgery, oncology, gastroenterology, otolaryngology, gynecology, and dentistry.

Previously, Mr. Jones was President of AirXpanders, a venture-backed startup focused on the development of smart, remote patient-controlled implantable tissue expanders used in reconstructive plastic surgery procedures. He has also held engineering roles at Magenta Medical, VNUS Medical Technologies, VidaMed, and Stryker Endoscopy.
